He had him in his sights. William. The man who had caused the deaths of two of his friends, the man who had no clue about military strategy, the man who despite it all was so devilishly handsome.
Sharpe shook his head. This was madness. The grief of losing Hagman and Harris combined with adrenaline was making him think like a lunatic. He looked down his rifle again. William had been separated from the rest of his men and was alone. This was the perfect moment. So why was he hesitating?
With one final breath he steeled himself and fired.
