Jack found himself awake in the early hours of the morning with very little to do. James lay beside him, sleeping deeply so there was no amusement to be found there.
Propping himself up on one elbow, Jack began to draw imaginary treasure maps on James’s chest with his finger. It was unfortunate that he had no charcoal because seeing James’s face when he woke up covered in real drawings would have been priceless.
He looked up at the sleeping Commodore’s face and smiled.
“Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate,” he’d once told Will.
It was so true.
