>>All I've ever been to anyone is a disappointment!" He looked up at Clark. "So why should you expect anything more of me, Clark?">>
Lex's problem is he doesn't expect any more of HIMSELF; and the only time he ever did was when he had Clark believing in him. And FINALLY (at least in this awesomesauce fic), Clark is grown up enough to CALL HIM ON IT!
>>"You don't need me to be your conscience, Lex; you've got your own right here.">>
sheer and utter brilliance. You ladies kick way too much ass for words.
and the poignancy of the parts of each OTHER they'd lost and missed, and could give back...
*is almost in tears* this was utterly perfect. Thanks for my bedtime story of HOPE! The fact that we fans can do this kind of incredible work with the miniscule CRAP they give us on the show lately is to me just a sign of the pool of sheer genius that exists out here in fandom, and i'm so excited to be friends with so many of the shining stars.
as I just said to Helios, I find it very telling that fans can find ten million ways to make Our Boys alright again, in such Awe-Inspiring ways as this--and all of ours are so PLAUSIBLE!--but the show can find only a few repetitive stupid plotholed OOC ways to make them more and more not-alright; all of them totally IMplausible!
I take this as proof that our boys aren't MEANT to be enemies, but friends and lovers! THAT'S why! And it is how we know that we are right, and the SHOW is the AU!!! RAR!
And now i'm feeling an odd mix of hopeful, at peace, and militant, LOL. Only the best fandoms can do that to me. And the best stories. *hugs you two for giving this gift*
