Prompt picture:

“Comic books are for kids.”

Lex glanced out from beneath one of the trees at Excelsior where he was reading the latest issue of Warrior Angel. Oliver Queen towered over him, attempting to look as menacing as possible. Ever since the death of his parents Oliver had become volatile at best, withdrawing from everything and making life hell for anyone who crossed his path.

Lex resumed reading.

“Hey, I’m talking to you.”

Lex found the comic snatched from his hand and he glanced up again. “I’m trying to read."

“You won’t be doing anything if I rip this up.”

He shrugged. “I’ve got a spare copy. Besides, I’ve already memorised it.”

Oliver snorted and tossed the comic back at him. “You are such a geek. You’re not even worth bothering with.”

As Oliver walked away, Lex smiled to himself and carried on reading.

The next day, Lex was in his usual spot underneath the tree, comic book in hand when Oliver approached again. This time, Oliver didn’t say a word, he just stood there and Lex could feel him staring at him.

“You can sit down if you want,” Lex finally said quietly. “I promise my geekery isn’t catching.”

Oliver simply snorted and walked away.

On the third day, he did sit down, leaning against the opposite side of the tree from Lex. He didn’t say anything the whole time, but when it was time to return to class, they walked in together.

Oliver raised an eyebrow the next day when Lex offered him a book to read. "Robin Hood?"

“My mom used to read it to me when I was little,” Lex explained. “I thought you might like it.”

Lex watched as Oliver studied the cover intently, tracing his finger over the picture of the man dressed in green with his bow drawn.

“I’m not much of a reader,” he finally said.

Lex simply nodded and tucked the book back into his bag.

“Thanks, though,” Oliver added, almost as an afterthought.

Lex smiled.

“Why are you doing this?” Oliver asked the next day when Lex presented him with a handheld console complete with the latest superhero game. “You know I can afford whatever I want.”

Lex shrugged. “I thought you might get bored just sitting here doing nothing while I read.”

“That’s why I sit here. I need some quiet time and no one ever bothers you.”

“No one ever bothers you either,” Lex countered. “Everyone is scared of you.”

“You’re not,” Oliver retorted.

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Because I know what it feels like to lose your parents. If I was as strong as you, I’d kick the shit out of everyone, too.”

Oliver frowned. “I know your dad got killed in the Smallville meteor shower but….”

“My mom died of cancer,” Lex explained.

“I’m sorry.”

“Thanks. Now, do you want the console or not? It’s just a loan.”

Oliver took it with a grateful smile.

* * *

“Hey, Luthor!”

Lex walked on, ignoring the voice that was calling him and the footsteps that were obviously following him. Moments later, he found his path blocked by Geoffrey Murray, one of Oliver’s former friends before Oliver had decided he preferred being a loner.

“I was talking to you, you bald freak. Didn’t anyone ever tell you that ignoring people is rude?”

He was used to this. Ever since he’d lost his hair in the meteor shower that had killed his father, he’d found himself a prime target for all the bullies at Excelsior. Most of the time, if he ignored them, they got bored and left him alone, but there were always one or two who wanted to show how brave they were by beating up the little bald kid.

Today, it was Geoffrey’s day.

Lex tried to sidestep him, but Geoffrey latched onto his arm with such a tight grip it caused Lex to hiss in pain.

“Don’t walk away when I’m talking to you,” Geoffrey growled.

Lex attempted to shake him off, his heart starting to pound as he realised the danger he was in. Geoffrey began to laugh, but it quickly turned into a cry of pain as Lex dealt him a sharp kick to the shin.

“You little prick!”

His fist shot out, striking Lex squarely in the face. Lex could feel the blood, warm and thick, trickling into his mouth and down his chin as he staggered backwards and then fell. Before his brain could tell him to run, Geoffrey had a hold of him again, grabbing him by the front of the shirt and pulling him close.

“I am going to kick your ass so hard you’re gonna wish a meteor had crushed you like it did your old man.”

Lex spat blood into Geoffrey’s face.

“Hey, what’s happening here?”

“Oliver!” Geoffrey greeted him warmly, still keeping a tight hold on Lex. “I was starting to think you’d forgotten about me, man.”

Oliver didn’t make eye contact with Lex, and that scared him. For a moment, a hopeful moment, Lex had thought Oliver was here to help him. Now it looked as if he was going to get a beating from the two of them. He’d be in the hospital for a month after this.

“I’m teaching baldy here what happens to people who fight back,” Geoffrey continued. “Wanna help? It’ll be like old times. I’ve got some beer and pot in my room for afterwards.”

To Lex’s surprise, Oliver suddenly placed himself between him and Geoffrey.

“I’ve got a better idea,” Oliver said calmly. “What don’t you get lost and leave him alone or I’ll teach you a lesson instead.”

“What? Are you crazy? Why are you defending that freak?”

Lex watched as Oliver drew himself up to his full height, much as he had done on that first day under the tree. “Call him that again, and you’ll get to find out what your own teeth taste like.”

Geoffrey paled. Like most bullies, he was only interested in picking on people who were smaller and weaker than he was.

“Fine. You two are welcome to each other.”

He walked away, a little faster than necessary.

“Why did you do that?” Lex asked as Oliver helped him to his feet. “I thought he was your friend.”

Oliver shrugged. “He’s just a dumb thug. Come on, let’s go to my room and I’ll get you cleaned up.”

* * *

“Why do you stay here?” Oliver asked as he dabbed at the blood on Lex’s face. “I’ve seen you in class and you’re way smarter than any of the teachers in this dump.”

Lex shrugged, wincing as Oliver dabbed some antiseptic on his cuts. “Where else would I go? All my money is locked in a trust fund until I turn eighteen next year and my allowance isn’t enough to live on.”

Oliver stepped back and nodded, apparently satisfied that Lex’s lip didn’t need stitches. “Anywhere has to be better than here.”

Leaving Lex to sit perched on the edge of his bed, Oliver moved over to his drawers and started rummaging. Finally, he found what he was looking for and pulled out a pack of cigarettes, offering one to Lex with a grin.

“No, thanks, I used to have asthma and I kinda don’t want to risk getting it back.”

“Fair enough,” Oliver said with a shrug. “Hope you don’t mind if I do, though.”

Lex hopped off the bed and opened the window so the smoke had somewhere to escape. “Go ahead.”

Oliver lit his cigarette, took a drag and sighed contentedly as he blew the smoke out of the window. “Ahh, that feels good. Hey, do you want a beer instead? I’ve got plenty.”

“Sure.”

Oliver smiled and grabbed a bottle from where it was hidden at the back of his wardrobe and handed it to Lex. “Thank god, I was starting to worry that you didn’t have any vices at all.

Lex grinned wickedly. “You clearly don’t know me very well.”

* * *

“Whoa!” Oliver exclaimed as he peered inside the secret compartment of Lex’s closet. “What is all this stuff?”

He picked up a small clear glass bottle and handed it to Oliver. “What's the use in being a good scientist if you can’t put it to personal use? This is vodka, more pure than any that is legally sold in this country and probably more pure than a lot of the stuff that’s sold illegally too. Courtesy of the Luthor Distillery.”

He grabbed Oliver’s wrist as he started to open the bottle. “You only want to take a tiny sip of that, trust me.”

Oliver raised an eyebrow and poured a few drops into his mouth. He swallowed, then his eyes widened and he started to cough. Lex grinned and handed him a glass of water.

“Holy shit,” Oliver finally managed to wheeze. “You weren’t kidding!”

Then his eyes brightened. “Lex, I just had an idea. We should sell this stuff.”

Lex frowned. “We?”

“Sure! You make it and I can get us the customers. Trust me, I know people who will pay a small fortune for this stuff.”

“Absolutely not,” Lex replied with a shake of his head. “If this gets traced back to me I’ll get expelled.”

“I won’t let that happen, Lex, trust me. We can be partners, and partners look out for each other.”

Lex still wasn’t convinced. Oliver was right when he said that Lex really didn’t need to be at this school, but he really didn’t want to be expelled. When he left it was going to be on his terms, not theirs.

“Come on, Lex, you’re smart enough to know that this is a good idea,” Oliver pressed, extending his hand. “Partners?”

What the hell. You didn’t get anywhere in life without taking a few risks. He took Oliver’s hand in his and shook his firmly. “Partners.”

* * *

“I don’t believe this,” Oliver exclaimed with delight as he set piles of money down on Lex’s bed. “We made twenty thousand. In a week!”

Lex smiled. He wasn’t particularly surprised at how successful the venture had been. Most of the kids at Excelsior were dumb, spoiled brats who were looking for a quick thrill and didn’t care what the cost was. They’d have been falling over themselves to get their hands on his stuff.

“If we keep going like this we could get out of here and actually live a little. What do you think?”

“Why do you want to leave so badly?” Lex asked curiously.

“Why do you want to stay?” Oliver replied. “You said yourself that the only reason you’re still here is because you couldn’t afford to leave. Come on, Lex, there’s a whole world out there and I want to see it before I die.”

Lex frowned. “Are you planning on dying any time soon?”

“Everyone dies, Lex, and you never know when it’s going to happen.

“Yeah,” Lex agreed softly after a moment. Then he turned to face Oliver, his eyes steely with determination. “Do you trust me?”

“Sure,” Oliver replied without hesitation. “Why?”

“I might have a plan to get us out of here sooner rather than later.”

* * *

“Ok,” Oliver said, staring at Lex with wide eyes. “Tell me again. Slowly.”

“I made us a million dollars,” Lex repeated, trying to stop himself from giggling at the shocked look on Lex’s face. Luthors do not giggle.

“With twenty grand?” Oliver asked.

“Yes.”

“What the hell did you do? Rob a bank?”

Lex smiled. “My dad taught me about the stock market before he taught me basic math. All I did was invest our money in a few carefully selected companies.

Oliver launched himself at him with a whoop, throwing his arms around him and planting a sloppy wet kiss on his mouth. Startled, Lex froze for a moment, staring at Oliver when he pulled back and laughed.

“What?” Oliver asked when he noticed Lex staring at him.

Lex simply smiled and leaned in to kiss him again, only this time it wasn’t a joke. He heart was pounding and his hands were shaking and he prayed Oliver wouldn’t reject him. He relaxed when Oliver moaned softly and kissed him back. The kiss only lasted for a moment but in that moment Lex felt warm and cared for. It was the first time he’d felt that way since his mother had died. Oliver pulled back and smiled at him.

“Let’s get out of here.”

Six months later

“Lex?”

He groaned at the voice calling softly in his ear. It to have only been five minutes since he and Oliver had crawled in from whatever club they’d hit the night before. Either was his hangover was already making its presence known, or he was dying of some new disease that hadn’t been discovered yet.

“Lex, you need to wake up.” Oliver crooned again, and now he was stroking his face.

“G’way.”

It had to be some new and most likely deadly disease. No hangover was as bad as the agonising pounding in his head and the disgusting dryness in his mouth.

“Lex, I’m not going anywhere until you open your eyes.”

He had to have the most annoyingly persistent boyfriend the world had ever known. Carefully he cracked open one eye and groaned again when he felt fresh pain stabbing in his head. When he was finally able to focus he found a slice of cake being waved under his nose, and he had to resist his body’s desire to puke all over it.

“Happy Birthday!” Oliver cheered, and Lex would have kicked him out of their bed right then and there if he had the energy to move.

“You don’t want cake?” Oliver asked with a grin.

“No,” Lex croaked. “I want you to go away and leave me to die in peace.”

“Come on, man, you’ve had worse hangovers than this before.”

He grabbed one of the pillows and pressed it over his face, maybe self-suffocation would end his suffering quickly and painlessly. He felt Oliver’s weight shift from the bed and he smiled into the pillow. Finally, he was going to get some peace.

“Fine,” he heard Oliver say. “You can sleep some more. You’re going to need your energy for tonight.”

Cautiously Lex pulled the pillow away from his face. “What’s happening tonight?”

“Your birthday celebration, of course! You really think I was going to let it slide after the amazing party you organised for me last month?”

Lex shook his head mournfully. “I’m afraid I will be dead before tonight.”

“You’ll be dead if you don’t come,” Oliver replied with a grin. “Come on, it’s not every day you turn eighteen. You’re now officially a billionaire, you can do whatever you want whenever you want.”

Lex raised an eyebrow. “We’ve been doing whatever we want since we left Excelsior.”

“Well, tonight is different. Make sure you wear your hottest outfit.”

Oliver left the room before Lex had a chance to ask any more questions. He closed his eyes and breathed in Oliver’s scent from the pillow.

He had a feeling tonight was going to be a night he would never forget.

* * *

The neon lights of Atlantis burned brightly, painting the faces of the dozens of people who queued outside a deep shade of red. Lex could feel them glaring as he and Oliver walked straight to the front of the line and were immediately let inside. Knowing how envious they were just made him smile. Money really was power, even if that power was just getting VIP treatment at whatever exclusive club they decided to visit.

Inside, the music was pulsing and the air was slick with sweat from the bodies of people crammed on the dance floor. Lex was melting in his long leather coat, but it had been a gift from Oliver and he knew it caught people's attention so he didn’t care. Once the night got going, he wouldn’t notice the temperature anyway. He could already feel eyes on him as they made their way through the crowd towards the bar. A curt nod from Oliver to the bartender had them presented with drinks and two small pills.

“You ready to have some fun?” Oliver asked as he placed both pills on his tongue.

Lex smiled and leaned in for a kiss, suckling on Oliver’s tongue and drawing one of the pills into his own mouth. He swallowed and then kissed Oliver again, roughly this time, pulling Oliver close so they were flush against each other.

“Let’s dance,” Oliver panted when they finally parted, taking Lex’s hand in his and tugging him onto the dance floor.

It had the desired effect.

This was an elite club, where most people had never even seen a gay couple before. Lex could feel the people nearest them slow down and start to stare. He grinned and kissed Oliver again, keeping his mouth open so that the gawkers got a good view of both of their tongues as they teased and massaged each other during the kiss. He could hear people saying how disgusting it was and how they should be kicked out of the club, and that just made Lex enjoy it all the more. He ground his crotch against Oliver’s as they continued to kiss, moaning loudly as though they were fucking right there on the dance floor.

People began to move away and after a few minutes, there was a clear circle of dance floor surrounding them. Just as Lex liked it.

He did a quick scan of the crowd, looking for any interesting or familiar faces, and was about to pass the evening off as a dull one when he stopped. On the other side of the club, leaning against the bar and staring at him was the most stunning man Lex had ever seen. Unlike the others he wasn’t staring at Lex in disgust, he looked interested, and now that he’d caught Lex’s eye, he was smiling at him.

The drugs he’d taken had clearly started to kick in because Lex was hard, horny and simply had to have this man. He was so beautiful that Lex was beginning to wonder if it was a hallucination.

“You like him,” Oliver said, not sounding sad or angry. It was a statement of fact. Lex blinked and turned back to face him.

“What?”

“You like him. It’s okay, I don’t mind. This was kind of what I had in mind for your birthday present. I thought it might be fun to have some company in bed tonight.”

Lex was grinning like an idiot but he didn’t care. He leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to Oliver’s lips. “Best present ever.”

When he looked back at the bar the man was gone.

* * *

“Lex,” Oliver whined as they stumbled out into the night air. “Come on, we’ve spent all night looking for this hot guy. There are plenty of other hot guys in there to choose from.”

Lex whirled to face him, eyes wide and cheeks flushed. “No, it has to be him. I don’t want anyone else.”

“I’d be offended if you weren’t wasted,” Oliver retorted dryly. “Let’s just go home. I’ll make you forget all about that guy, I promise.”

“Which guy would that be?”

Both men jumped at the sound of a third voice, and Lex’s face lit up as its owner stepped out of the shadows.

“It’s you,” he breathed. “I was starting to think I imagined you.”

“We were about to ask you to join us,” Oliver added, “before you did your vanishing act.”

“I know,” he replied with a shrug. “I had to make a phone call first.”

“What do you mean you knew?” Lex asked curiously. “How could you know that?”

Another shrug. “I could tell by the way you were looking at me. Now, are we going to get out of here and have some fun? Standing here talking is starting to get boring.”

“At least tell us your name, first.”

“Kal.”

* * *

As soon as they stumbled into the back of the car, Lex found himself pounced upon. Kal’s tongue plundered his mouth in a fierce, demanding way that Lex had never experienced before. He was already painfully hard, and Kal could clearly tell as he cupped the bulge in Lex’s pants.

“You're ready for me,” Kal whispered, flicking his tongue across Lex’s earlobe. “Good.”

Lex glanced down to where Kal was still holding him. “That’s an interesting ring.”

Kal raised an eyebrow. “I’ve got my hand on your cock and you want to talk about jewellery?”

Lex shrugged. “I’ve just never seen anything like it before, that’s all I’m saying.”

Kal leaned in closer. “How about we forget about that and talk about how I’m going to fuck you when we get back to your apartment. How do you like it Lex? Hard or gentle?”

The car pulled up before Lex could answer. He wasn’t sure he’d have been capable of speech, anyway. This guy seemed to ooze sex from every pore and Lex suspected that no matter how he said he liked it, Kal was going to be perfect at it.

The security guard turned a blind eye as the three of them fell into the elevator, hands all over each other. Lex took three attempts to key in the security code to the penthouse. It was hard to concentrate when Kal was kissing him and Oliver was suckling on his neck.

Hands still on each other they eventually made it into the penthouse and staggered into the bedroom and onto the bed. Lex found himself forced to lie down while Oliver removed his coat and shirt, and Kal removed his pants and boxers. Once he was naked, Oliver smiled. “You’re the birthday boy. That means we do all the work and you just get to enjoy it.”

“I can do that,” Lex smiled lazily, his mind still buzzing from the E. Foreplay was best when he was high, and this was the best he’d ever had. Every kiss, every lick, every bite felt ten times better than normal, and on top of that he had two people on him at the same time. For a moment, he wondered if it was possible to spontaneously combust from too much pleasure as he threw back his head, moaning as Kal’s hot mouth slid over his cock.

“Oh, Christ, yes. Kal, don’t stop.”

Oliver was above him, he could feel it. Suckling and licking his hardened nipples. He reached up and ran his hands over Oliver’s face before hooking his fingers through Kal’s thick hair.

He almost whimpered when Kal pulled away, leaving his cock standing still erect and aching.

“I’ve got a better idea,” Kal said with a sneer to Oliver. “Why don’t you watch while I fuck your boyfriend in ways neither of you has imagined.”

“What?” Oliver asked with a frown. “That wasn’t the idea.”

Kal gave a nonchalant shrug. “I don’t like to share. I’ll do you afterwards if you don’t want to jerk off.”

“No, you weren’t invited here to fuck Lex in front of me. Either we’re all involved or you can get out.”

Kal simply smirked. “What don’t we ask the birthday boy what he wants? It’s his day after all. Do you want me to leave or do you want the best fuck you’ve ever had?”

Helplessly, Lex looked between Kal’s smug grin and Oliver’s hurt frown. It should have been an easy, split-second decision but he found himself hesitating.

“Lex,” Oliver pressed, causing Kal to smirk.

He wanted badly to say the words and make Kal leave so that he could just enjoy a night with Oliver, but the words wouldn’t come. His body was aching with longing, and it was all for Kal and what Lex knew Kal could do to him.

“Stay,” he finally whispered, closing his eyes so he wouldn’t have to look Oliver in the eye.

The next thing he heard was the door slam shut as Oliver left, and immediately the guilt started to flood through him. He tried to sit up, ready to run after Oliver and not caring that he was still naked. He found himself pinned to the mattress by Kal.

“You chose me,” Kal whispered. “Now let me show you why that was the right choice to make.”

“Let me go,” Lex protested half-heartedly. “I have to go after him.”

He moaned as Kal kissed him, a fresh wave of heat flooding through him. Kal’s mouth began to roam every inch of him, teasing, licking and exploring as he moved down Lex’s body to claim his prize.

“Christ,” Lex whispered as Kal took him into his mouth for the second time that night. “Kal, you’re amazing.”

Lex had no idea what Kal was doing with his tongue but he’d never felt anything like it before in his life.

“Kal, stop, I’m gonna…”

He came with a shudder, much sooner than he should have but he couldn’t control it.

“Hmm,” Kal murmured as he swallowed. “I’d thought you’d have more stamina than that. Roll over.”

Lex attempted to sit up and quickly found himself roughly rolled onto his stomach.

“There’s lube in the drawer next to the bed,” he mumbled into the pillow.

Kal’s breath tickled his ear as he whispered to him. “I could fuck you without it. Hurt you. Do you like to be hurt, Lex?”

He trembled beneath Kal as the words slowly penetrated his fogged brain.

“Yes,” he finally whispered. “Hurt me.”

With one hand Kal pinned both of Lex’s hands above his head, the grip digging in until Lex hissed.

Kal grinned, and slid down the bed until the arm that was holding Lex’s hand was fully extended. Then he dipped his head down and flicked out his tongue, swiping it between the cheeks of Lex’s ass. Lex whimpered in pleasure as Kal’s tongue explored his hole, and then Kal shifted and entered him, causing Lex to grunt in pain but also to groan in pleasure. Kal was big, and with only the minimal lubrication provided by Kal’s saliva Lex could feel himself tearing as Kal began to thrust in and out of him.

“Do you like that?” Kal grunted in his ear and Lex had to bite down on the pillow to prevent himself from screaming out in pain. Mixed beneath the pain, though, was a burning pleasure that was better than any drug he had ever taken. It was as though Kal was seeping through his skin and their energies were merging together to give him life. Right now, he couldn’t imagine being with anyone else but Kal.

Kal came with a grunt, collapsing on top of Lex and pinning him to the bed. Lex groaned as any remaining breath was knocked out of his body. Kal really was big in every possible way.

“I can’t breathe,” he finally managed to wheeze.

With a huff, Kal rolled off him and lay still.

Exhausted and aching in places he didn’t even know existed until tonight, Lex soon fell asleep, too tired to even mourn the fact that this was the first time since he’d moved to Metropolis that he’d fallen asleep without someone holding him.

* * *

The rage, pain and burning jealousy still burned in Oliver’s chest as he walked. It had been hours since he’d stormed out of the penthouse but there was no way he could go back. In fact he wouldn’t go back while there was any chance Kal would still be there.

Right now, he hated Kal for coming into their lives and fucking everything up. He hated Lex for letting Kal come between them, and he hated himself for walking out and not beating the shit out of Kal while he’d had the chance.

He'd never imagined things would end this way. He and Lex had enjoyed months of wild hedonism that most people only dreamed of. Now, no matter what happened when he returned to the penthouse, things would never be the same.

He kicked an old tin can down a nearby alley and was suddenly struck by the fact that he had no idea where he was. It was still dark, but the sky was starting to turn pink on the horizon so it would soon be dawn. Maybe the light would give him a better idea of which direction he needed to walk in.

Even in the dark he could tell this was not the sort of place to stick around in. The air was ripe with poverty and decay; the streets littered with garbage and used needles.

He started to walk again, deciding that moving anywhere had to be better than standing still, even if he had no idea where he was going.

“Hey, pretty boy? What are you doing in my part of town?”

He couldn’t see the owner of the voice at first, but then he found his path blocked. The sound of footsteps behind him told him that his retreat had been cut off, too.

There was no escape.

The men surrounding him, some of them could even be called boys, were armed and obviously used to living on the streets in this neighbourhood. Their weapons ranged from makeshift clubs and chains to small knives. At that moment, Oliver was struck by the cold reality of his situation.

He was going to die.

* * *

Lex wasn’t sure what woke him, but something caused him to jerk up into a sitting position.

“Oliver?”

The bed space beside him was empty but still warm. Kal obviously hadn’t been gone very long. His head felt surprisingly clear, and with it came all the memories of the night before in full Technicolor.

“Shit,” he whispered, running a hand over his scalp. “Shit!”

He swung his legs over the side of the bed and was about to set out to look for Oliver when something caught his eye on the table beside the bed.

Kal’s ring.

Lex’s hand hovered over it for a moment before he pulled back. He didn’t know what to make of it. Either Kal had left it as some cruel payment, it was meant to be a gift, or Kal had simply forgotten it.

He decided to think about it later. First, he needed to clean up and then try to find Oliver. As he entered the bathroom, he noticed the shower was running.

“Oliver?”

What he saw as the steam cleared was the last thing he’d expected.

“Kal?”

He was on his knees under the stream of water from the shower, his shoulders shaking. He paid no attention to the water pouring onto him or to Lex’s words.

Lex approached cautiously. It was obvious that Kal had been on something last night, just as he and Oliver had been, and he was now coming down from his high. There was no telling how he was going to react. “Kal, are you ok?”

He carefully placed a gentle hand on Kal’s shoulder, jerking back as Kal flinched beneath his touch.

“Don’t touch me,” Kal whimpered.

“Ok,” Lex said softly. “I just want to make sure you’re alright. Tell me that and I’ll leave you alone.”

His eyes widened in alarm as Kal began to sob. “How can you even care after what I did to you last night?”

Lex crouched down beside him, thankful that he was still naked so it didn’t matter how wet he was getting.

“Kal, you didn’t force me to do anything I didn’t want to.”

“I could have, though,” Kal sniffed, “You were just lucky.”

“Maybe,” Lex replied with a shrug. “But neither of us was exactly in our right minds last night, and you still didn’t go too far. Now, I know I don’t know you very well but I think that says something about you.”

This time he was rewarded with the smallest and most tentative of smiles.

“Why are you being so nice to me?” Kal finally asked. “I drove your boyfriend away.”

Lex grimaced. “I think it was me who did that, Kal.”

“Clark,” he replied gently. “Kal isn’t my real name, it’s Clark.”

“Clark,” Lex repeated. “I like that. Come on, let’s get you dried off, and then I need to try and find Oliver, if he’s still talking to me.”

“Let me help,” Clark said as he accepted a towel from Lex. “It’s the least I can do.”

As they entered the bedroom, Clark paused by the table and picked up his ring. Without a moment's hesitation, he threw it out of the window.

“What did you do that for?” Lex asked with a frown.

“I don’t need it any more,” Clark replied.

Oliver was braced, ready to go down with a fight if needed but determined to avoid it if he could.

He was lucky.

The first man to attack him was one of the older men and he was big. Not fat, but heavy and stocky. His weight and size slowed him down and allowed Oliver to dodge the blow that would have caved in his skull if it had hit him.

He charged, kicking, punching and shoving at anyone that got in his way. A few blows hit him on the back and on his arms but he shrugged them off. He knew that if he slowed down for even a fraction of a second he would be dead.

He felt hands grabbing at his shirt, trying to pull him back but he struggled against it. After a few agonising seconds, he heard the fabric tear as his shirt was ripped from him but he didn’t care. He was free.

With lungs burning he ran, vowing there and then that he would never smoke another cigarette and that he would start to work out. His legs were becoming numb as he ran through the pain, all the while hearing his pursuers growing ever closer.

He rounded a corner and smashed face first into a solid object. Whiteness exploded behind his eyes as he fell to the ground. For a moment, he couldn’t see or hear anything, and then his vision started to clear. What he saw had to be a hallucination.

Kal was fighting the entire gang by himself, tossing them around as though they weighed nothing at all. When he picked a street lamp out of the ground like a flower and bent it around the unconscious men, Oliver knew he had to be dreaming.

Then Kal turned back to face him. “Are you okay?”

Oliver nodded and quietly passed out.

* * *

Pain throbbed in his head as consciousness slowly returned to him. He was aware that he was lying on the ground with his head in someone’s lap, Kal’s, he assumed. Kal was running his fingers through Oliver’s hair and it almost felt nice, apart from the headache and the fact that most of his body was lying on cold concrete.

“Oliver?”

With a groan, he managed to open his eyes. “It wasn’t a dream then. You saved me.”

There was a gentle smile on Kal’s face which quickly turned into a frown. “I didn’t do anything, Oliver. I found you lying unconscious in the middle of the street.”

He tried to sit up, groaning when his head protested. “I know what I saw, Kal. You did things no man could possibly do.”

There was panic in Kal’s eyes now, as he shook his head. “Oliver, you hit your head. Maybe you were seeing things.”

“Or maybe I wasn’t.”

Kal sighed. “Look, I should take you back to Lex. He’s really worried about you. Maybe then we can talk.”

Oliver shrugged. “Oh, so you’re done fucking him then? Well, I hope you both enjoyed it while I was being chased and beaten.”

Kal winced. “Oliver, I don’t even know how to begin to say how sorry I am for what I did last night. Let me take you home and I’ll explain everything, I promise.”

“Fine,” Oliver grumbled. “You might need to help me.”

Lex had lost count of the number of times he’d paced up and down the length of the penthouse. He felt helpless and it wasn’t a feeling he was used to or enjoyed. He still didn’t know what he was doing here.

It made sense that someone stayed behind in the penthouse in case Oliver came back, but Lex still didn’t understand why Clark had thought he’d be able to find Oliver faster.

He started as the door opened and a tired-looking Oliver walked in. Lex’s eyes widened as he took in the scratches and bruises on Oliver’s naked upper body, and the large lump on his head.

“Oh, my god!”

He flew across the room and carefully pulled Oliver into his arms. “Jesus, I am so sorry. This is all my fault.”

Oliver sighed and snuggled closer to Lex. “It’s not your fault. We were all out of our heads last night. I’m just glad to be alive.”

Lex smiled and kissed him softly. “I’m glad you’re okay, too. It would have killed me if something had happened to you.”

Oliver pulled back and turned to face Clark. “Ok, now are you going to explain to us how you saved my life?”

Lex’s eyes widened. “Clark saved your life?”

“Who’s Clark?”

Clark raised his hand. “Kal isn’t my real name.”

Oliver rolled his eyes. “Who the hell are you? You’ve given us a false name, you can toss people around like they weigh nothing, and you can pluck street lights out of the ground.”

Lex stared. “He did what?”

Oliver ignored him and stared at Clark. “What are you?”

“An alien,” Clark said softly, eyes fixed on the carpet.

Both Lex and Oliver fell silent, staring at Clark for what felt like hours. Lex was the first one to move, stepping forward and running his hands gently over Clark’s face.

“You don’t look like an alien,” he said softly. “You don’t feel like an alien.”

Clark closed his eyes as tears slowly rolled down his cheeks. “My body looks human but I’m not. I’m strong and fast, I can shoot fire out of my eyes. I’m a freak.”

“No,” Lex said, brushing the tears away. “You’re not. You saved Oliver’s life, and that’s all that matters to me. I wish there were more people out there like you, Clark. The world would be a much safer place.”

Oliver moved over to join them. “He’s right. I’ve seen a side of Metropolis that I never want to see again. With you out there, the city could be a better place.”

Clark frowned. “What? You want me to become a cop? I dropped out of school.”

“So did we,” Lex replied with a grin, “and no, not a cop, something better.”

Clark and Oliver both frowned. “Lex, what are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about putting our money and Clark’s abilities to good use. Think of the good we could do, together.”

“I dunno, Lex,” Clark said. “If you’re suggesting what I think you’re suggesting, I want to go back to Smallville for a bit first and discuss it with my parents.”

“You have parents?” Oliver asked curiously. “Are they aliens too?”

Clark couldn’t help but smile at that. “My adoptive parents.”

“Oh.”

“Of course, you need to talk to them,” Lex said, having produced his laptop and hurriedly bashing at keys. “We’ll need some time to arrange things anyway.”

“I guess I should go then,” Clark said, watching Lex with a mixture of curiosity and sadness.

“Wait,” Oliver said. “There’s something else we need to discuss.”

“What?”

Oliver grasped Lex’s arm and tugged him over to Clark. “When Clark gets back, I want him to live with us.”

Lex and Clark both gasped. “What?”

“Look, I can see you two have feelings for each other, Lex. I love you and I want you to be happy. If that means you being with Clark then fine, I’ll have to deal with that. I’ll take one of the spare rooms if you want me to, but I thought that maybe we could try again at what we attempted last night, if Clark is willing to share this time.”

Clark lowered his eyes. “Oliver, I really am sorry.”

“I know. So, what do you think?”

Clark smiled and pressed a gentle kiss to Oliver’s lips. “I think it’s perfect.”

“Lex?”

“I get to share my bed with two incredible people. Of course, I don’t mind.”

Oliver beamed. “Great. Now, I need to take a shower before we start planning some more.”

As he left them alone, Lex took Clark’s hand in his. “I’ll be waiting for you. We both will.”

Clark smiled. “I’ll be back soon.”

Lex barely had time to register the warmth of Clark’s lips on his before there was a gust of cold air.

When he opened his eyes Clark was gone.

Six months later

“I’m not wearing it!”

Lex sighed. “Clark, we talked about this. You have to wear it. Our scientists worked on it for months. Do you know how much work went into making indestructible fabric?”

“But look at it!”

“I am,” Oliver said with a smile as he walked over to join them. “You look hot.”

Clark’s frown melted away as Oliver kissed him, and then kissed Lex.

“It’s okay for you two,” Clark resumed grumbling. “You get to go out there in your Armani suits.”

Lex grinned. “How about Oliver and I take you out of that thing once the press conference is over?”

Clark rolled his eyes and smiled. “You always did know the right thing to say.”

“It’s a gift.”

“We’re on,” Oliver said, kissing them both again before he and Lex made their way onto the stage.

As Oliver and Lex made their introduction, Clark waited at the side of the stage. This certainly hadn’t been what he’d expected when he’d run away to Metropolis, but he was happy and certain that it was the right thing to do. Even his parents had agreed after several lengthy conversations with Lex and Oliver.

“People of Metropolis,” Lex’s voice rang out clearly through the microphone. “I present to you, Superman.”

Geez--you did the impossible--you made me not want to stab Ollie Queen. Amazing.

It was a fun story, and a very cool answer to the challenge!

Hehe! I don't get why so many people hate Ollie. I liked him :)

Well, I'm glad I could redeem him at least temporarily for you *g*
